Introduction into the Queer Movies of the Berlinale

For all those who would like to find out about the queer films of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in advance, the head of the Panorama section, Michael Stütz, and program managers from the Berlinale sections will present their films in the running for the 38th TEDDY AWARD and provide initial insights into current topics and trends in queer cinema.
The traditional kick-off event for the TEDDY AWARD is supported by the SchwuZ Queer Foundation.
Admission for a voluntary donation to the SchwuZ Queer Foundation.
The introduction will be in English.
TEDDY Jury Reception: Moderated introduction of the TEDDY AWARD Jury 2024

The traditional introduction to our TEDDY AWARD jury, where we learn about the work of our jury, their festivals and what a Queer Film Prize means to them.

DIRECTORS EXCHANGE: (Re)claiming Power

Their works embolden us, their stories are wild and their characters are fiercely unstoppable. Each turning the tables of power upside down and claiming their rightful places within these universes. Lola Arias and Bruce La Bruce sit down with us and share their approach to creating the wild, the wonderful and the powerful queer characters in their film sand what these characters bring to the community.

DIRECTORS EXCHANGE: Family Ties, the Inherited and the Chosen

Family can present itself in many different forms; it can mean stability, safety and love for some and for others trauma and heartbreak. Queer identifying persons sometimes have two families, the ones we grew up with and the ones we create. Directors Anthony Schatteman, Lucía G. Romero and Ray Yeung discuss their approach to family representation within the queer community and the importance of such portrayals.

TEDDY Talk: Queer Creations Part 2

The Queer-Creation talks is about exploring, analysing and connecting elements, people and organisations in the queer film network. Curated from films screening within Berlinale Shorts, Generation and Forum Expanded, each of these shorts all breathe moments of reflection, love and growth.
